Self-defense class

Self-defense. Experts say there are some things that every gal should know. For this reason, the Shelter Island Recreation Department invites teenage girls and adult women to a self-defense workshop. It takes place Monday, March 25, 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Shelter Island School gym.

Library hosts free virtual Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA)

Shelter Island residents who earned less than $55,000 in 2018 may be eligible for free Volunteer Income Tax Assistance at the library. The Health and Welfare Council of Long Island is sending a staff member to the Island on Saturday, March 23 to offer free tax prep by appointment.

St. Mary’s community Pancake Supper

St. Mary's Episcopal Church will hold its annual community Pancake Supper on March 5, the last day before the start of the Christian season of Lent. Open to the entire community, the pancake supper offers continuous service from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Admission is free but a goodwill offering for the Island's All-Fatih Youth Group is appreciated.
