Paris prepares for UFC Fight Night 287 main event between Hooker and Parnasse
Main Event Showcases Lightweight Talent
Accor Arena in Paris is set to host UFC Fight Night 287 on Saturday, featuring a 14-fight card. The main event will see veteran lightweight Dan Hooker face off against French debutant Salahdine Parnasse. This marks the fifth consecutive year the Octagon has traveled to Paris for a September event, promising an electric atmosphere for combat sports fans.
Hooker, a consistent presence in the lightweight rankings for nearly a decade, enters his fourth UFC main event. He aims to rebound after recent losses to Arman Tsarukyan and Benoît Saint Denis. Known for his striking abilities and extensive experience against top-tier competition, Hooker presents a significant challenge for Parnasse.
Parnasse, a 28-year-old from Aubervilliers, makes his highly anticipated UFC debut with a professional record of 23-2, including 15 finishes. He previously held two divisional championships under the KSW banner, with his last defeat occurring during an attempt to secure a third weight class title. His arrival in the UFC has been long-awaited by many observers.
This matchup is particularly intriguing as it pits Hooker, a seasoned fighter looking to regain momentum, against Parnasse, a hyped newcomer with a strong record outside the UFC. The dynamic often leads to underestimation of the veteran and elevated expectations for the debutant, setting the stage for a compelling contest once the Octagon door closes.
Co-Main Event and Other Key Bouts
The co-main event also features a lightweight clash between French standouts Farès Ziam and Axel Sola. Ziam, known as “Smile Killer,” had a six-fight winning streak snapped in June by Tom Nolan. He returns to fight in his home country for the first time in three years and holds a 2-0 record in Paris, including a knockout victory over Matt Frevola in his last appearance before the French audience.
Sola has quickly established himself as a notable fighter in the 155-pound division after just three fights. Following a competitive bout with Mason Jones in March, he secured a first-round submission win over Ismael Bonfim in July. Sola now faces his toughest test to date in front of his home crowd, aiming for a third victory in his first year on the UFC roster.
Another significant main card bout sees Michael “Venom” Page return to the middleweight division to face Nursulton Ruziboev. Page is on a three-fight winning streak and looks to continue that momentum while aiming to hand Ruziboev his first loss in the UFC’s 185-pound weight class. Page has secured wins over Shara “Bullet” Magomedov and Jared Cannonier in his previous middleweight appearances, showcasing an elusive fighting style.
Ruziboev began his UFC career with stoppage victories over Brunno Ferreira and Sedriques Dumas before a brief venture to welterweight resulted in a decision loss to Joaquin Buckley. Since returning to middleweight, Ruziboev has secured three more wins, including a technical submission against Andrey Pulyaev in June. The winner of this middleweight contest could position themselves for a future fight against a ranked opponent.
Welterweight and Featherweight Showdowns
The card also features a welterweight matchup between The Ultimate Fighter winner Daniil Donchenko and Dana White’s Contender Series graduate Punahele Soriano. Donchenko, a 25-year-old Ukrainian, earned his UFC spot with a victory at last year’s Noche UFC event and has since added wins over Alex Moreno and Theodor Berggren. He is known for his aggressive, all-action style, often leading with elbows.
Soriano has quietly built a four-fight winning streak since moving to welterweight, most recently securing a hard-fought win against Ramiz Brahimaj in February. With a strong chin, powerful strikes, and solid grappling skills, Soriano possesses the tools to adapt his strategy during a fight. This bout is considered one that could elevate the winner to face a ranked opponent next.
In the featherweight division, Kurtis Campbell welcomes Trevor Peek back to the Octagon. Campbell, from Liverpool, had a main card assignment in London earlier this year but seeks a more successful outcome in his second UFC appearance. Peek returns to action after nearly two years away due to various injuries. Known for his aggressive, “all gas, no brakes” approach, Peek aims to end a two-fight skid and even his record under the UFC banner.
The main card opens with Losene Keita making his second UFC appearance against Muhammad Naimov. Keita, who was scheduled to debut in Paris last year but missed weight, ultimately made his debut in March, dropping a competitive fight to Nathaniel Wood. He now looks to secure his first UFC victory in Paris. The entire 14-fight card will stream on Paramount+.
