Why we’re here
We all so deeply love this special place.
Eddie spent childhood summers here and swore then that he’d come back and buy a house. And he did, over 30 years ago. Eddie and Julia were married here, brought their two sons out for weekends and vacations, and, after he retired, fulfilled a longtime dream to live here full-time.
Who we are
An experienced reporter and editor, Julia covered breaking news statewide in New Jersey for the AP. She’s worked at daily and weekly newspapers, too. You’ll see her out every day walking together with her dog, Pookie.
Eddie recently retired after 35 years at a financial services firm. When he’s not busy with kayaking, golfing and fishing — he’ll contribute a story or two.
Harelegger Media
A Harelegger is someone born on Shelter Island. We named our company — created right here on the Island — Harelegger Media to emphasize its local roots and local focus.
