The local League of Women Voters chapter hosts a primary candidates forum for Democrats running for Town Supervisor and Town Council seats.
VOTE
The Island's Community Housing transfer tax vote must await the absentee ballot count after unofficial early voting and Election Day results left the question nearly tied with only eight votes between nays and yeas.
VOTE
The primary for statewide offices is Tuesday, June 28, but this year there will be early voting here on Shelter Island beginning Saturday, June 18.
Town Hall
Supervisor Gerry Siller (D) has won another two-year term at the helm of Town government, and incumbent Amber Brach-Williams (R) another four-year term on the Town Board. Other winners announced Tuesday were Dorothy Ogar, the long-time Town Clerk; and for Town Board, BJ Ianfolla and Margaret Larsen
It appears that incumbent Supervisor Gerry Siller (D) won another two-year term at the helm of Town government, and incumbent Amber Brach-Williams (R) will likely serve another four-year term on the Town Board. But other Shelter Island election results were too close to call Tuesday night.
Just hours after Town Councilman Albert Dickson, a Democrat, said he would not seek re-election, the Shelter Island Democrats announced the slate of candidates they'll support for Town office in November.
Certified results show Joseph R. Biden down by 232 votes to Donald J. Trump in Suffolk County. The incumbent lost the race, including here on Shelter Island where the Biden/Harris ticket won 1,489 to 666 votes.
The Suffolk County Board of Elections is providing unofficial election results by election district. Absentee ballot counting is ongoing. We will update the results as new figures become available.
