LWV hosts primary candidates forum for Democrats vying for Town seats

The local League of Women Voters chapter hosts a primary candidates forum for Democrats running for Town Supervisor and Town Council seats.

The event is Sunday, June 4, from 1 to 3 PM at the Shelter Island Public Library.

There will be two debates. In the first, Supervisor Gerard Siller faces challenger Arnott Gordon Gooding. The second features the three Democrats vying for two Town Council nominations — Benjamin I. Dyett, Albert Dickson, and Robert “Bert” Waife.

For the League of Women Voters of the Hamptons, Shelter Island & South Fork, Jo-Ann Robotti will moderate both debates. There will be no Republican primary, as the local party has selected one candidate for each open seat. On Election Day in November, the winners of the Democratic primary face Republicans Amber Brach-Williams for Supervisor and Tom Cronin and Art Williams for Town Council.

Early voting in the primary begins Saturday, June 17, and runs for nine days before Primary Day on Tuesday, June 27. Follow this link to learn more about primary voting.

You can attend the LWV forum in person or via Zoom (call Library Director Terry Lucas for the link at 631-749-0042). If you’re attending in person, you may submit questions at the library; if you’re on Zoom, please send them by June 3 to qforprimary@gmail.com

A recording will be posted on the Town’s public access Channel 22 and YouTube channel.
