Shelter Island, with its leisurely pace and amazing places to explore, is a great place to be, no matter your age. But it’s especially delightful for children and families. Here you’ll find listings of programs and activities targeted at children and their families. However, many other Island activities welcome children. Sylvester Manor summer youth programs include two new offerings — one focused on culinary arts and the other on wilderness living. All programs occur outdoors on the 235-acre grounds along Gardiners Creek in the heart of Shelter Island.
Kids ages 5 to 10 can spend time over school breaks connecting with nature at Sylvester Manor thanks to a new program called "Vivaldi Breaks.”

The Community Clothing Swap — a roving exchange that aims to help families save money while keeping clothing out of landfills — will meet next under the tent on the library lawn on Saturday, October 8 from 10 AM to 3 PM.
Stop by Sylvester Manor Farmstand for a scarecrow-making workshop to help raise money for the Shelter Island Fall 5K and its breast health beneficiaries.
Imagination Island is offering after-school childcare programs for kids ages 3 to 10 two days a week at Shelter Island Presbyterian Church.
Break out those fishing poles (and poster paints) for the Lions Club Snapper Derby! The annual event takes place Saturday, August 27.
