Children and Families

Shelter Island, with its leisurely pace and amazing places to explore, is a great place to be, no matter your age. But it’s especially delightful for children and families. Here you’ll find listings of programs and activities targeted at children and their families. However, many other Island activities welcome children. To find more about where to go and what to do with kids on Shelter Island, you can also search the tag “family-friendly.”

Goat on a Boat puppet theater brings its madcap magic to Sylvester Manor with a special performance on its mobile stage. There is no charge to attend the show on Friday, August 5 at 1 PM.
Mashomack Preserve kicks off its new hour-long drop-off programs for kids ages 4+ with "Turtle Time" on Thursday, July 28.

Sylvester Manor and the Shelter Island Public Library collaborate this summer to present weekly Story Thyme sessions.
Sylvester Manor invites families to reserve 90 minutes on a summer day to experience Family Fun at the Farm with one of the Manor's farm educators. Starts June 29.
Imagination Island offers two summer programs, four evenings per week, for kids ages 4 to 11 starting July 6; you can sign up for any one or more dates while space remains.
The PTSA hosts a Scholastic Book Fair at Shelter Island School, with in-person and online options; a portion of every Book Fair purchase supports and school and PTSA.
As you may know, the Shelter Island Public Library offers so much more than books. This month, check out outside the box library items from the Youth Services division.

PARP Week at Shelter Island School
