Imagination Island offers two summer programs for kids ages 4 to 11

Imagination Island offers two summer evening programs at Shelter Island Presbyterian Church: Kid's Happy Hour and Kid's Night Out. Sign up today!

Imagination Island offers two summer programs, four evenings per week, for kids ages 4 to 11 starting July 6; you can sign up for any one or more dates while space remains.

Amy Taylor Adkison and her daughter, Taylor, lead Imagination Island. Programs take place Wednesday through Saturday at the Shelter Island Presbyterian Church, with 14 seats available for each session:

  • Kid’s Happy Hour runs from 4 to 6 PM; the cost is $50 per student and includes a snack and all creative supplies
  • Kid’s Night Out is from 6:30 to 9:30 PM; the cost is $100 per student and includes dinner and all creative supplies

For variety, each week has a theme:

  • July 6 to 9 — Peace, Love, Recycle
  • July 13 to 16 — Under the Sea
  • July 20 to 23 — Let’s Space Out
  • July 27 to 30 — Around the World
  • August 3 to 6 — Safari Adventure
  • August 10 to 13 — Kindness Everywhere!
  • August 17 to 20 — It’s a Circus!
  • August 24 to 27 — Back to the Future

Kid’s Happy Hour

A typical Kid’s Happy Hour looks like this:

  • 4 PM — Opening activity/snack
  • 4:20 — Introduction of the day’s project, demonstration, and instructions
  • 4:30 — Imagination Guides work side-by-side with participants on the project
  • 5 — Play break
  • 5:30 — Finish working on the evening’s project
  • 5:45 — Cleanup time

About Imagination Island

Amy Taylor Adkison holds a master’s degree in teaching with a focus on early childhood and elementary education from Columbia International University. She is passionate about creating opportunities for children to tap into their imaginations. She taught gifted education in Fort Myers and believes all children are born with unique gifts and talents.

Adkison’s daughter, Taylor, is an honors student in college, an entrepreneur, photographer, and friend to all children. Together, this mother and daughter have created programs that focus on the individuality of each child and inspire creativity, laughter, learning, and growth.
