SICC Mother’s Day car parade

Shelter Island Country Club is organizing a Mother’s Day car parade to honor its member mothers across the Island.

“Normally we’d be making plans to take Mom out for Sunday brunch or dinner at The Flyng Goat for Mother’s Day,” the SICC Board said in a email to members. Instead, “please join the SICC Board of Trustees for a drive-by parade to thank our member Moms and their friends and families across the Island for all they do to keep us healthy and safe.”

The SICC Mother’s Day car parade starts at 11AM Sunday, May 10 at Crescent Beach. No need to get out of your car, just join the end of the queue. The goal is to drive by the homes of as many SICC member mothers as possible. If you have a special request for a drive-by, call SICC trustee Ann Beckwith at 631-816-0012.

“All you need to do is show up about 10 minutes before in your car, SUV or truck, line up and follow the lead vehicle,” the club said, noting it will post the route later in the week at .shelterislandcc.org “in case you need to catch up to us.”

SICC suggests that participants make signs or decorate their vehicles, and be ready to cheer. Cars are welcome to join the route in progress if you miss the start.

“We want to hear you make some noise, people, so be ready to honk your horns, wave and yell ‘Happy Mother’s Day from SICC’ out the windows.”
