Shelter Island nonprofit Giving Guide for 2021

Nonprofit Giving Guide for 2021
Want to support our community nonprofits with a year-end gift. Use our nonprofit Giving Guide for 2021 to find organizations that serve Shelter Island.

With the pandemic continuing to dampen the capacity to gather for good causes, the nonprofits that serve Shelter Island need our support more today than ever. Use our nonprofit Giving Guide for 2021 to make year-end gifts to the organizations listed below, or give in someone else’s honor.

The newest addition to the list, but a longtime Island stalwart, is the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Unit 281. These are the folks who make the iconic red poppies that brighten Island gardens all year round. You can support the Ladies Auxiliary with a donation by check to PO Box 852, Shelter Island, NY 11964. Then, for the poppies when they go on sale in the spring, in time for Memorial Day remembrances.

We’re also including a link to the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League/SI Bucks. While donations are most welcome, a lack of housing meant the team couldn’t play in 2021. And General Manager Brian Cass is already on the hunt for housing options so Shelter Island can field a team in the summer of ’22. If you’re interested in offering space, please contact him at 631-445-0084 or brian.cass6255@gmail.com.

If you see a cause that especially interests you, why not volunteer? This Island runs on volunteerism from the Emergency Medical Services team to the Friends of the Shelter Island Public Library.
