Mashomack Preserve offers two new opportunities to explore this summer in guided evening paddles (and has dropoff kids programs, too).

“From salt marsh adventures to talks about water quality and shellfish, the Mashomack team has some exciting paddles planned,” the preserve says. Dates are:

  • Bass Creek Family Paddle/Sandflat Exploration, Saturday, July 16, from 6 to 7:30 PM
  • Log Cabin Creek Shellfish Paddle and Talk, Saturday, August 27, from 4 to 6 PM.

Mashomack supplies the kayaks, paddles, and life vests. To register, or if you have questions, contact mashomackpreserve@tnc.org.

Kids programs

Mashomack Preserve also hosts hour-long dropoff programs for kids ages 4 and up this summer.

Called Summer Seedlings, Mashomack’s new hour-long summer programs take place on Thursdays in July and August.

“We’ll explore the natural work around us and learn about different animals that call the Preserve home,” Mashomack said in an email blast.

Activities will include crafts, snacks, and exploring Mashomack’s trails. The dropoff session dates/times are:

  • Turtle Time, July 28 from 9 to 10 AM
  • Muddling in the Marsh, August 11 from 3 to 4 PM*
  • Furry Friends, August 25 from 9 to 10 AM

*Requires adult guardians

A few EE spots left

In other news, Mashomack says a few spaces remain in its popular Environmental Explorers program. Kids ages 8 to 12 can participate in this nature camp experience. Scholarships are available.
