FIT Center dedication in honor of Garth Griffin

Garth Griffin at a Kent School reunion posing beside the prestigious Princess Elizabeth Challenge Cup that his team had won.

The Town of Shelter Island and the Shelter Island School invite all to participate in a ceremony to name the FIT Center in honor of Garth Griffin, who died in January 2020.

Griffin served the community as a police officer, EMT, fire chief, coach, and recreation director. A great friend and neighbor, he helped make the long-envisioned FIT Center a reality.

Attend the ceremony on Saturday, November 6 at 3 PM on the Community Center lawn (or inside the Legion Hall if it’s raining).

Read more about him in this post we published when he died.
