Sylvester Manor 2021 CSA: A few spots left!

The Sylvester Manor 2021 CSA has a just a few spots left — sign up today, before it’s fully-booked.

The Community Supported Agriculture program runs for 21 weeks from mid-June to the end of October. Pickups are Saturdays at the Windmill Field farm stand between 9 AM and 5 PM. CSA members enjoy fresh vegetables, berries and flowers, all grown right here on Shelter Island.

Due to the seasonal nature of CSA, the components of weekly shares are based on seasonal availability and will vary, the Manor says. But members can expect: kale, Swiss chard, cucumbers, zucchini, tomatoes, peppers, cherry tomatoes, carrots, beets, lettuce, arugula, escarole, herbs, blackberries, hakurei turnips, radishes, mustards, cabbage, broccolini, fennel, eggplant, flowers and more.

And, they’ll receive a lot of staple crops like lettuce, potatoes, and tomatoes.

“We grow a variety of crops, but also want to make sure you get enough of each item to cook with,” the Manor’s notice says.

For 2021, Sylvester Manor introduced a sliding scale model of payment. Members who can afford it are encouraged to pay more than the $560 base price. The funds collected over that go toward subsidized shares, donated shares and ongoing efforts to build a CSA program with improved access in years to come, the Manor says.

Sylvester Manor also offers a 21-week bread share as an add-on the CSA or as a stand-alone purchase. You can also purchase a Farmstand Credit of $515 that’s good for $550 in purchases.
