Suffolk County reported 6.713 confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, up 922 from the 5,719 cases reported the day before. Another nine residents died, increasing the county death toll to 53.
Of the positive cases, 708 are hospitalized (up 107), the county reported, with 229 requiring intensive care unit treatment, up 48.

Deaths
Regarding the nine residents who died overnight, the county provided the following information:
- seven individuals — two in their 30s, two in their 70s, two in the 80s and one in their 90s — who all had underlying health conditions and were in mandatory isolation at local hospitals
- one, age 80s, who had underlying health conditions, died at a local adult care facility
- one, age 40s, died a home
