Suffolk County reported 29,476 confirmed COVID-19 cases Wednesday. The number of confirmed cases on Shelter Island remained at seven, but local officials say they know of eight cases.

As of Tuesday, 888 Suffolk County residents have died of complications from the novel coronavirus, up 29 from the day before. In all 1,434 patients were hospitalized, an increase of 23 from the day before. Among them were 501 patients who required treatment in an intensive care unit, down by 5 patients.

Note: The cases reported under Township Unknown may include patients who provided Post Office boxes as their addresses (which do not fit the county’s emergency response address format) or those who are currently staying in Suffolk County, but have their primary residence elsewhere.
*On Shelter Island, local officials say they know of eight cases including two patients who died, one who recovered and five active cases.
