Shelter Island second half tax payments are due May 31. You can pay online or by phone, or you can mail in a check, according to Shelter Island Receiver of Taxes Annmarie Seddio.
She has sent a reminder for second half tax payments by mail to Island property owners.
How to make second half tax payments
Due to restrictions on office access in response to the COVID-19 outbreak, tax collectors around the state are asking property owners to use one of the non-contact methods of payment.
The options are:
- Pay taxes online at https://egov.basgov.com/shelterisland/
- Pay taxes by phone by calling 1-888-877-0450
- Mail your payment (the postmark date is used to determined your payment date)
If you choose to pay online or over the phone, please note that fees may apply as follows:
- For electronic check, there is a $1.75 flat fee
- For credit/debit cards, there is a 2.45 percent processing fee (which goes to the payment processor, not to the Town)
Payments made after May 31 must be made to the Suffolk County Comptroller. Late fees may apply. Please contact them for the correct payment amount at 631-852-3000.
Need help? Contact Seddio at 631-749-3338. As elsewhere around Town, her office is open for work, but closed to the public. Office hours are Monday to Friday, 9AM to noon and 1PM to 4PM during collection season.
