As we prepare to vote in contested local races for Supervisor and Town Council, let's not forget the other positions on the 2019 ballot. Here are the names and party affiliations of local, county and judicial candidates.

The 2019 Shelter Island ballot includes choices for Town positions, as well as for County-wide offices, and District and Family Court judges.

Suffolk County is rolling out early voting, giving us 10 days to cast our ballots. Early voting starts Saturday, October 26 in the Youth Center at the American Legion Hall. Thanks to new technology, voters can take part at any early voting station in Suffolk County. Read about early voting in this Gazette post.

Keeping it sociable

On Shelter Island, two events provide voters a chance to be sociable in nonpartisan settings.

St. Mary’s Episcopal Church hosts its annual Election Eve Ham Dinner on Monday, November 4, with seatings at 5 and 7 p.m. The cost is $25 for adults, $10 for children. Reserve tickets at stmarysshelterisland.org.

And, United Presbyterian Women hosts its annual Election Day Lunch at the Shelter Island Presbyterian Church, 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. After you vote, stop by for a delicious lunch of homemade clam chowder, hot dogs and homemade desserts, all reasonably priced.
