A rescue at sea by a North Ferry crew tops the police blotter for April 14 to 20, a week with no reports of calls for Shelter Island Emergency Medical Services (SIEMS) teams.

Two car accidents — one involving a deer, the other in the IGA parking lot — top the police blotter for April 7 to 13, as Islanders continued to report COVID-19 concerns. There were several animal incidents, too, with injured birds (a loon and an owl) and four baby squirrels getting needed attention.

Concerns about COVID-19 feature prominently in the police blotter for March 31 to April 6. Incidents include callers complaining about golfers not adhering to social distancing measures, about a work site with too many workers, and even an alleged rental scam for a non-existent address.
