Tickets are on sale for the Historical Society’s musical, “The Prospect of Summer.” It will be presented outdoors at the Shelter Island History Center.

Performances are Friday, July 22 through Sunday, July 24 at 6 PM. Tickets are $75 per person. To buy tickets, follow this link to the Historical Society’s website.

The original musical created by Lisa Shaw revisits the New Prospect Hotel in the late 1930s when it was abuzz with an endless array of entertainment to the delight of the hundreds of summer guests.

“Come take part in a very eventful weekend at this iconic historic hotel and its menagerie of guests and staff,” says the Historical Society promo, “Based on actual events at the time, ours was no sleepy outpost.”

Shaw, and her husband, Tom Hashagen, wrote and directed “A Hill of Beans” last year about a Shelter Island lima bean collective. As with “The Prospect of Summer,” last summer’s show featured community volunteers offering their talents on stage and behind the scenes, with Shaw’s professional band providing the music.
