2020 Shelter Island Virtual Fall 5k results

Results are in for the Shelter Island Fall 5k, which took place as a virtual event this year. Registered runners and walkers — including Susan Binder, Margaret Colligan, Melissa Hughes, Kim Reilly, Sue Gallant, Ellen Gove, Diane Rossi (along with her dog, Larry) — could complete any 5K route and submit their results. Donors purchased tickets for a 50/50 raffle and other prizes.

The 2020 Shelter Island Virtual Fall 5k results are in. The annual run/walk to raise funds for East End organizations fighting women’s cancers was a big success, organizers say. Most importantly, the event met its stated goal to “continue the fight”.

“Our angels in heaven are smiling, always remembered,” said Race Director M.E. Adipietro. “They were our true light this year.”

In all, 187 people registered to participate in the event that allowed them to run or walk any 5K course and post their times on EliteFeats any time between October 17 and 26. You can see all the results at elitefeats.com. The winning times for runners are:

  1. Trent Hampton, 19:25
  2. Bill Nadeau, 19:58
  3. Stacey Clark Kehl, 20:54

The winning times for walkers are:

  1. Louise O’Regan Clark, 36:49
  2. Maddie Pedone, 37:50
  3. Christine Imbriano, 39:21

Annmarie Seddio was a first cancer survivor to cross the “virtual finish line” as a runner with a time of 23:13. In addition to posting the best time as a walker, Louise O’Regan Clark was top finisher as a cancer survivor among those who walked.

Fundraising results are still being tallied, but the largest of the 11 teams registered was “Heaven Can Wait” with 22 members working under team captain, Susie Roden. Linda Zavatto was the top overall fundraiser, as she has been for many years.

All participants received a neck buff, face mask, and keepsake runners bib. There were no medals this year, but those named above will receive a swag bag with a trucker hat, knit cap, anniversary shirt, and compression socks.
