Town sponsors outdoor concert at Wades Beach – canceled

To bring some summer fun back to the Island, the Town of Shelter Island Recreation Department had planned on hosting a free outdoor concert featuring the Tom and Lisa Band at the Wades Beach pavilion. Town Supervisor Gerry Siller said “we decided to err on the side of caution.”

Southampton has come under national scrutiny after Town Supervisor Jay Schneiderman took part in a supposedly safe rave last weekend.

Tom Hashagen and Lisa Shaw, along with bassist Doug Broder and fiddler Steve Uh were to play Thursday evening, along with special guests Scott Hewett and Nelson Bogart.

Guests were invited to bring chairs/blankets, drinks (just no glass containers) and a picnic, and enjoy the sunset while taking in the tunes. All were advised to wear a mask and follow the social distancing rules.

The concert had been scheduled for Thursday, July 30 at 5 PM.
