The Ram’s Head Inn and Town agree to end dock lawsuit

The dock at the center of a lawsuit filed by Ram's Head Inn owner Aandrea Carter; the judge declared the case moot on Wednesday after attorneys agreed to dismiss remaining charges.

In a case filed by Ram’s Head Inn owner Aandrea Carter, remaining claims against the Town and two employees have been discontinued, ending her lawsuit over a disputed dock.

Previously, Suffolk County Supreme Court Justice Joseph A. Santorelli had dismissed numerous other claims against the Town and members of the Town Board, Town Supervisor Gerry Siller, and Town Attorney Stephen F. Kiely acting in their professional capacities.

In addition to suing Siller and Kiely in their professional capacities, Carter also sued them in their individual capacities.

Carter initially filed suit on May 24, 2022, claiming the Town had unlawfully damaged a dock at Middle Har-bay Road used for years by The Ram’s Head Inn that she believed was owned by the Inn.

The Town cut access to the dock after warning Carter that it would no longer allow the Inn to use it. The Town Board — after a long series of public hearings — later granted her request to instead adapt for use by the Inn’s guests a dock connected to a neighboring property that she’d also purchased.

On Wednesday, Santorelli ordered the entire case moot because attorneys for Carter and the Town signed a May 25 stipulation agreeing that the suit was “dismissed with prejudice and without costs to either party.”

“The Town Board is grateful for this outcome and wishes continued success to Aandrea Carter and The Ram’s Head Inn,” the Town Board said in a statement issued Wednesday.
