Sylvester Manor presents Jake Blount in a Creekside Concert

Don’t miss the only Creekside Concert of the season as Sylvester Manor welcomes Jake Blount for a solo performance.

The concert is Saturday, August 26 at 5 PM. The New Moon Acoustic Blues is the opening act.

About Jake Blount

A powerfully gifted musician and a scholar of Black American music, Blount speaks ardently about the African roots of the banjo and the subtle yet profound ways African Americans have shaped and defined the roots and Americana music.

Initially recognized for his skill as a string band musician, Blount has charted an unprecedented, Afrofuturist course on his pilgrimage through sound archives and song collections. In his hands, the banjo, fiddle, electric guitar, and synthesizer become ceremonial objects used to channel the insurgent creativity of his forebears. Read more about him at jakeblount.com.

New Moon Acoustic Blues is a high-energy traditional blues outfit led by guitarist and singer Karl Schwarz. The band performs all blues typified by artists such as the Reverend Gary Davis, Robert Johnson, and RL Burnside.

Joining Karl on stage is his good friend and harmonica player, David A. Barnes, of James Blood Ulmer’s Memphis Blood.

You can follow this link to the Manor’s website for additional information and to purchase tickets, which are $25 per person (plus an online convenience fee). Children under 12 attend for free but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
