“We will tell stories and develop characters, sing, dance, and build an original show to share with families and friends,” the program notice says. No prior experience is necessary to participate in this supportive and nurturing ensemble experience.

From Monday, July 24 to Thursday, August 3, kids ages 6 to 12 will meet from 9 AM to noon to work on a theater production they’ll present on Friday, August 4, when the program runs until 3 PM.

The cost is $650 per child, with a 15 percent discount for multiple children in the same family.

During the first week, participants will explore a theme and collaboratively create a production guided by experienced teaching artists. Then, during the second week, they’ll spend time preparing for the Friday performance open to family and friends.

Brooklyn Acting Lab’s mission is to create innovative theatrical works that reflect our diverse global community and nurture talent by providing comprehensive arts training for children and adults. BAL partners with schools and community-based organizations to offer arts-in-education programming, performances, and events, collaborating across the performing arts to exchange work and ideas with artists nationally and internationally.

Ceramics classes with Jude Amsel

The award-winning ceramicist offers two programs for children in different age groups. Here’s the lineup:

Mommy & Me Ceramics is for ages 3 to 5. Work alongside your child as they are introduced to the art of clay. They’ll create several unique pieces using varied techniques while creating treasured memories. Sign up for Tuesdays, August 8, 15, and 22, or Thursdays, August 10, 17 and 24; all sessions are from 9 to 10 AM.

In Spirit of Clay, kids ages 6 to 12 will learn hand-building and get an introduction to the potter’s wheel. They’ll decorate their pieces using various glazing methods, such as stencils, stamps, and silkscreens. Sign up for Tuesdays, August 8, 15 and 22, or Thursdays, August 10, 17, and 24. Morning sessions on either day are from 10:30 AM to noon and afternoon sessions are from 1 to 2:30 PM.
