Suffolk COunty: 34,329 confirmed COVID-19 cases

Suffolk County reported 34,329 confirmed COVID-19 cases Thursday morning. The number of confirmed cases on Shelter Island remained at seven, but local officials say they know of eight cases.

In all, 1,155 county residents have died, including another 24 overnight. As of April 29, 1,047 patients were hospitalized, a decrease of 35 from the day before. Of that number, 369 required treatment in an intensive care unit, down also by 35.

Note: The cases reported under Township Unknown may include patients who provided Post Office boxes as their addresses (which do not fit the county’s emergency response address format) or those who are currently staying in Suffolk County, but have their primary residence elsewhere.

*On Shelter Island, local officials say they know of eight cases including two patients who died, one who recovered and five active cases.

Suffolk County reported the following information related to COVID-19 through April 29, 2:30PM:

  • 89,168 COVID-19 tests have been administered, an addition of 2,669 tests since April 28
  • 37.3 percent of those tested were confirmed positive for COVID-19
  • in all, there are 3,316 hospital beds countywide; including 738 ICU beds
  • 111 additional patients were discharged from the hospital in the past 24 hours
