It’s time to sign kids up for Shelter Island Town Recreation 2022 summer programs, which include options for budding thespians, artists, athletes, and more. There’s also a chance for people of any age to sign up for Community Tennis.

Speed, Strength, and Hoops
Starting May 31, this youth athletic development program is for children ages 13+ (grades 6 through 8). The program has two components. First, participants will sharpen their basketball skills. Next, they’ll train to become a more well-rounded athlete regardless of their preferred sport. They’ll work on principles of training for speed, strength, and conditioning.

Plants and Potions with Ms. Stumme
Learn how to make healthy, homemade items such as goats’ milk soap, bath bombs, essential oil potions, farm-to-table herbs for cooking, and much, much more. In this club, students will work with plants and natural remedies to create safe, homemade products that they can use at home. Space is limited to 12 students.

Stop Motion Film
Calling all junior directors! In this club, you’ll get the chance to make a short film that you design. Students will learn different animation styles and techniques through the art of stop motion animation. At least one student per group must have parent permission to download “Stop Motion Studio” on their smartphone.

Colonial Multi-Sport Program
Colonial Sports presents a two-week multi-sports program. Participants will receive instruction in each sport and experience the sport during game situations. Sports Skills Program
A youth athletic development program for children ages 5 to 16 of all ability levels. Participants will play in organized drills and games to improve athletic ability, coordination, and teamwork in basketball, dodgeball, kickball, obstacle course, and soccer. Certified professionals provide guidance and coaching. Participants should bring snacks; the program will provide water.

Moussa Drame offers a chance for Islanders to have fun while learning the great sport of tennis. The program is set up to accommodate all levels.
