Registration is underway for the 43rd Annual Shelter Island 10K & 5K Run/Walk. The foot race is capped at 2,000 participants.
Scheduled for Saturday, June 18, there is a 5:30 PM start time for runners and 5:50 PM for walkers. The registration fees begin at $45 for runners and $35 for walkers, with options for virtual participants, too.
Finishers get medals and commemorative T-shirts. And you can support the run and its beneficiaries, even if you don’t plan to participate. There will be a post-race awards ceremony with live music and free beer (over 21 only) on the Community Center lawn. The music lineup features Island favorites including Broder and Bogart, Sara Mundy, Greg McMullen, and Joe Campisi.
This year, the Hampton Jitney provides transportation from four convenient locations in New York City, and Nassau and Suffolk counties. Purchase the $55 round-trip jitney ticket when signing up.
