The Shelter Island PTSA will host its annual Scholastic Book Fair beginning October 18 outdoors at the school (and online).

[UPDATE: All Book Fair activities have moved into the gym due to the windy conditions!]

“Our students LOVE this event,” the PTSA in a recent email, noting that all profits support enrichment programs and activities.

The Book Fair will take place at the school from 9 AM to 3 PM, Monday, October 18 to Thursday, October 21. The rain date is Friday, October 22.

The PTSA seeks volunteers to help set up and break down daily, run the cash register, and assist students in selecting books. Use this link to sign up for the time that works best for you. Please dress appropriately for this outdoor activity (the fair will not open if it is raining).

Scholastic offers two interactive book lists for families to review:

Virtual Book Fair

Shoppers can also peruse more than 5,000 products online in a Virtual Book Fair from October 18 through October 31. All orders ship directly to your home, and book-only orders over $25 ship free.

As with the in-person Book Fair, every purchase benefits the host school and serves the PTSA mission of helping to develop a child’s love of reading.

Use e-Wallet for shopping

Scholastic offers eWallet as a safe, cashless way for kids to shop at the company’s Book Fairs. Kids can use the digital payment option at the in-school Book Fair or online during the Virtual Book Fair.

Follow this link to set up your eWallet.

Here’s how it works:

  • Create an account for each child
  • Add funds using a credit card (you can invite family and friends to contribute)
  • Shop the Book Fair

After the Fair, the remaining eWallet funds transfer to a gift card balance that can be used online with Scholastic. Or to fund an eWallet for a future Book Fair.
