Patti Hooks is the lucky winner of the Grand Prize in the HCBL/Shelter Island Bucks Christmas Raffle. The Shelter Island IGA manager won a one-week stay at a luxury villa in Puerto Rico.
Bucks General Manager Brian Cass said the raffle was a roaring success and it was no surprise that 1,100 tickets (including the winning ticket) were sold right here on the Island. Cass said Hooks purchased two and also took part in selling tickets outside the IGA.
“Not bad for little ole Shelter Island,” Cass told the Gazette in a text message after the drawing on Friday evening.
The $10 tickets were sold primarily at Shelter Island ACE Hardware, or by calling Cass. Other tickets were sold in the East End towns that host Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League teams. The Bucks did not form a team in 2021, due to a lack of housing. But organizers are hopeful that we’ll have summer baseball on Shelter Island again in 2022 (read this post to learn how you can help).

The 1st prize is a one-week stay at a luxury villa in Culebra, Puerto Rico (airfare and car rental not included — see details below).

Grand Prize: One week stay
The grand prize for Hooks is a one-week stay in a luxurious Puerto Rico villa (airfare and car rental not included). The winner can select any week between now and August 31, 2022. Villa Navillus Sur has four bedrooms — one with a king bed, one with a queen bed, one with two twins, and one with a single bed — and room for air mattresses.
The private, serene and safe villa, located on top of a hill with gorgeous views, has an infinity pool, sculpture garden and is minutes from fabulous beaches. Just 10 minutes away in Culebra is world-famous Flamenco Beach and much to explore, from snorkeling and scuba to hiking.
