About Casey Chalem

Casey Chalem Anderson is a Greenwich Village native who passionately creates oil paintings of idyllic Hamptons landscapes. Whether painting majestic oceans, tranquil salt marshes, or fields of flowers bursting with color, she expresses the timeless beauty of nature at the beach.

Drawing has always been an essential part of her creative process. Using a paintbrush, pencil, or pen, the line keenly observed from nature gives structure and conveys sensitivity in her art.

Casey is an entrepreneur with an art studio in Sag Harbor, where she lives and works. She writes a bi-monthly blog, “Breath of Salt Air,” featuring her recently completed works and sharing a few words that connect her followers to the sea.

She has participated in many East End benefits and helped to create Plein Air Peconic, a group that works with the Peconic Land Trust to protect the land and water essential to her paintings.

Her work has been featured throughout the East End and is represented in numerous private collections.

After reopening last year following extensive rehabilitation, The Chequit began its Summer Art series. The program showcases the work of East End artists.

About The Chequit

The inn, built as a meeting hall in 1872, soon morphed into what residents of nearby cottages called “The Restaurant.” By 1909, it had been transformed into an inn. Known for its live music and late-night cocktail parties, The Chequit drew a celebrity following. It hosted stars like Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller (and, rumor has it, Frank Sinatra).

The Chequit officially reopened on Memorial Day weekend of 2022. The main building features 19 renovated guest rooms, and two adjacent buildings have another 16.

The inn’s food and beverage program has two distinct dining rooms, Weakfish and The Tavern. They share one menu inspired by new Asian and American cuisine. There are multiple outdoor dining spaces with enchanting water views of Dering Harbor.

The Chequit, with outdoor dining, hosts an exhibit featuring Emily Rose Larsen art.

In addition, the Heights Café & Wine Bar offers morning coffee and freshly-baked pastries. It becomes a wine bar in mid-afternoon, serving vino, cheese boards, and small bites.
