Town Advisory #2
The graphic depicts the timing and strength of the storm at 2PM on Sunday August 22, 2021.

What follows is the Town of Shelter Island’s Hurricane Henri advisory #2:

The National Weather Service has changed the path of Hurricane Henri. The current track puts the eye of the storm just to the west of Shelter Island.

This hurricane’s path change has upgraded our potential for greater sustained wind speeds and increased rainfall totals. We are now expecting hurricane-force winds greater than or equal to 74 MPH early Sunday afternoon.

All residents and visitors to Shelter Island must prepare for Hurricane Henri!

PSEG will be staffing our community with crews for the Hurricane, but everyone should prepare for power outages. Emergency planning should include a 72-hour supply of food, water, and other necessities.

Please continue to pay close attention to media advisories regarding the timing and path of this storm.

Should you have any questions, please contact the Shelter Island Police Department / Emergency Management non-emergency number at 631-749-0600.

We will notify you as additional advisories are posted.
