Shop iconic Shelter Island
Please note, holiday hours are subject to change; MOST businesses on Shelter Island will close early on Christmas Eve, Friday, December 24th, and be closed for Christmas Day, Saturday, December 25th.
The Chequit Holiday Shop — Immerse yourself in a holiday wonderland where ideas abound for decorating and gift-giving. Need a tree? Purchase a real or artificial one along with everything you need to embellish it — garlands, lights, ornaments, and more. The shop, located across from the main inn on Washington Street, is usually open Friday to Sunday from 10 AM to 5 PM.
Finley’s Fiction — In search of classic fiction, non-fiction, coffee table, or children’s book? Stop in at this delightful shop that also features holiday greeting cards, stationery, games, and puzzles, along with other treats for book lovers of all ages. In addition, Finley runs a Book of the Month subscription service and can tailor to a reader’s preferences. At 8 Grand Avenue, the store is usually open on weekends from 10 AM to 5 PM. Grady Riley Gardens — Have a passionate gardener on your list? Find accessories from bird baths to lawn ornaments to seeds. You’ll also find a selection of shrubs and trees and materials for enriching the garden, from soil amendments to valuable and decorative chips and mulches. Christmas trees and wreaths are on-site and ready for your home! Usually open weekends, 80 North Menantic Road, or leave a message for an appointment at 631-749-5575.
J.W. Piccozzi Inc. — Let’s face it, we all have to put gas in our cars, and a gift card from Piccozzi’s will fill anyone’s tank with joy. So for the cyclist on your shopping list, check out new bikes and accessories from helmets to bells and gel seats at Piccozzi’s Bike Shop. Find details at jwpiccozzi.com.
Marika’s Eclectic Boutique — Think outside the box for gifts, with unique finds for lovers of all things vintage. Furniture, lamps, mirrors, and trinkets galore. Services include reupholstery and re-finishing, and re-painting furniture for an updated look. You can usually browse at Marika’s, 6 South Ferry Road, Friday to Sunday from 10 AM to 4 PM. Shelter Island ACE Hardware — Got a tinkerer, gardener, or hunter on your list? Shelter Island ACE Hardware carries all sorts of hand tools, power tools, gadgets, and accessories for outdoor coastal living like barbecues, smokers, and coolers, including YETI products. The store is open daily from 7:30 AM to 5 PM, and Sundays until 3 PM, but closed on Christmas Day. For the latest, follow Shelter Island ACE Hardware on Facebook.
Shelter Island Heights Pharmacy — Find Island souvenirs, Island-themed gifts, greeting cards, and wrapping supplies for any occasion. The Pharmacy carries many gift items, including the Stonewall Kitchen holiday collection, traditional boxed chocolates and candies, and its own branded Soda-Drugs merchandise. Gift cards, too! Shelter Island Heights Pharmacy, at 19 Grand Avenue, is usually open daily from 8:30 AM to 6 PM, until 5 PM on Saturday and 12:30 PM on Sunday. Masks required for entry. Questions? SIMM’S — Find gifts for the home, such as blankets, candles, and tableware. This month, the curators from Ram Design feature framed photographs from the Robin Rice Collection. Holiday events are made brighter with a new outfit or accessory. Give as gifts (and choose one for yourself) from luxurious seasonal picks in the Marie Eiffel fashion line. SIMM’S, which stands for Shelter Island Makers Market, 181 North Ferry Road (Bridge Street), is usually open Friday to Monday from 10 AM to 5 PM.
