The Shelter Island Police Department is investigating an apparent overdose death, according to Detective-Sergeant Jack H. Thilberg.
In a statement, he said Moises C. Garcia, 41, of Shelter Island was found dead in his home on Friday, March 5. Police and members of the Shelter Island Emergency Medical Services team were called to the residence around 8:18 AM and found that Garcia “had succumbed to an apparent drug (fentanyl) overdose.”
SIPD, “in conjunction with the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office are investigating the circumstances of the death, and the investigation remains active,” D/Sgt. Thilberg said in a statement released late Saturday night.
