SIPD: Aggravated DWI arrest on South Ferry Road

Glenn C. Specht, 49, of East Hampton was stopped Monday afternoon on South Ferry Road and arrested for aggravated DWI and DWI, and ticketed for other offenses, the Shelter Island Police Department said in a news release.

Specht was stopped at 1:38 PM for failure to stop at a stop sign and was subsequently arrested for aggravated driving while intoxicated and driving while intoxicated, the police report said. He was also charged with drinking an alcoholic beverages in a motor vehicle, failure to stop at a stop sign, and operating a motor vehicle without a valid inspection certificate.

“The defendant was transported to Shelter Island Police HQ where he was processed and detained until arraignment,” according to the report by Sergeant Terrence LeGrady of the SIPD.

An arraignment took place Tuesday before Judge Mary-Faith Westervelt at Shelter Island Town Justice Court.
