On Friday, Oct. 29, 2021, the Food and Drug Administration paved the way for children ages 5 to 11 to get Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine. One more regulatory hurdle remains, as advisers to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention will make more detailed recommendations on which youngsters should get vaccinated, with a final decision by the agency’s director expected shortly afterward. Parents/guardians can sign up kids for a pediatric COVID-19 vaccine clinic with Dr. Joshua Potter at the Shelter Island office of the Meeting House Lane Medical Practice.

School Superintendent Brian Doelger notified parents/guardians on Monday of the clinic that is scheduled to administer first doses on Monday, November 29, with the second dose three weeks later.

To make appointments for children age 5 to 11, call the office at 631-749-9140. Children need not be patients at the clinic in order to sign up. Parents/guardians will only be required to share demographic information, the superintendent said.
