Shelter Island Seniors head to the Parrish Art Museum, where a new sculpture exhibition entitled “Seeing Things in Things” has just opened featuring works by Mel Kendrick.

Members of the Silver Circle will board a bus on Wednesday, November 9 at 9:30 AM outside the Shelter Island Senior Center for the trip via South Ferry to the museum in Water Mill.

The new exhibition represents a wide range of sculptures from the American artist’s decades-long career. The exhibit notes say the selections show how Kendrick “exploits the essential properties of his selected medium, whether wood, rubber — and more recently concrete — to create a sculpture that inherently lays bare the process by which it was made.”

The works by Kendrick, a Parrish collection artist, and longtime East End resident, will be on view through February 19 in a comprehensive multi-gallery exhibition that celebrates his unique approach to artmaking.
