The union representing Shelter Island Highway Department employees at the Recycling Center says Town Councilman Jim Colligan should step down after allegedly demanding that workers at the Recycling Center remove political flags from their private vehicles parked there. An impartial investigation is underway.
The Town of Shetler Island Recycling Center is open today, but only for storm debris. All other services will resume Thursday, August 6.
The Heights Post Office, which was hit by a falling tree, will be closed until debris can be cleared and utlities fully restored.
