Police blotter for May 2 to 8

The announcement of an arrest on a felony identity theft charge tops the Shelter Island police blotter for May 2 to 8.

[Editor’s note: This post was updated to remove an automated correction that introduced mistaken information — an alarm sounding on Friday, May 6 was unrelated to a drug investigation.]

On Thursday, May 5, SIPD Det/Sgt Jack H. Thilberg reported the arrest of Jaliaih Renee Simone Primm, 22, of Greenport. Primm was charged on April 29 with identity theft in the second degree.

“Subsequent to an investigation into illegal debit card transactions and identity theft, the above defendant was arrested and charged with the above-listed crime,” Thilberg said in a news release on May 5.

The charge stems from a complaint made on April 27 by a person who reported that a home health worker may have unlawfully used his mother’s debit card.

Primm was processed at police headquarters and released on an appearance ticket directing her to Shelter Island Justice Court at a later date.
