Perlman Music Program Chamber Music Workshop final week

It’s the final week of the Chamber Music Workshop at the Perlman Music Program, and that means you have just a few more opportunities to see these amazing young musicians at work.

On Thursday, June 14 at 7 PM, dive into the making of spectacular chamber performances with Itzhak Perlman as he leads young artists in the workshop’s final masterclass. The free event takes place in the performance tent and is open to the public.

And if you love chamber music, you won’t want to miss the four-concert marathon that allows each of the groups to perform the works they’ve honed during the workshop. The concerts are free and open to the public. Follow the links to find details for:

About the Chamber Music Workshop

The Chamber Music Workshop (CMW) invites young artists to explore musicianship at the highest level. Led by esteemed cellist and educator Merry Peckham, this year’s program includes 39 young artists representing eight countries and 11 US states. In addition to giving concerts, they take part in masterclasses, salons hosted in private homes, and more. To learn more about the participants, visit PMP’s Meet the Young Artists page.

The CMW artist-faculty members are giants among performers and educators today. Young artists enjoy remarkable opportunities to perform alongside their mentors and delve into masterworks of the chamber repertoire.

Since its founding in 2003, the CMW has grown into one of the country’s most prestigious summer chamber music programs, with alumni at the forefront of today’s most dynamic and distinguished ensembles, PMP says.

About the Perlman Music Program

As a young violin student at Juilliard, Toby Perlman imagined an antidote to the competitive and isolating environment that exceptional young artists often grapple with in the pursuit of their craft.

In the summer of 1994, along with her husband Itzhak, Toby established The Perlman Music Program for aspiring young violinists, violists, cellists, bassists, and pianists.

In 2000, a visionary group of supporters secured the program’s 28-acre home on Shelter Island overlooking Crescent Beach. This peaceful, secluded campus is the perfect setting for students to escape the demands of their complicated lives and come together to form a lasting community.

Summer Music School

Next, PMP gets camp ready for the Summer Music School.

All are welcome to attend the opening celebration, the Annual Faculty Concert on Friday, June 30 at 7 PM. Then, weekly Works in Progress Concerts begin on Saturday, July 1 at 7 PM; watch the students grow during free performances under the tent open to the public on Fridays and Saturdays at 7 PM through August 12.
