Moussa Drame reminds players (and would-be players) that tennis season on Shelter Island is just around the corner. But there’s still time to sign up for his Moussa Drame Tennis Academy 2023 programs.
Moussa says the academy is staffed to meet the needs of all ages and playing levels. As always, he emphasizes improving core tennis fundamental skills, player development, physical training, tactical/mental training, and fun. Instructors use drills, games, and match-play to give participants a great workout.

Shelter Island ALL-Sports Junior Program 2023
The academy’s Junior Camp at the Dering Harbor Inn (13 Winthrop Road) is offered for all levels in two sessions on weekdays from June 19 to August 25. Choose 8 AM to 11 AM or 2 to 5 PM. This program is for kids ages 6 and up. Sign up for any one or all 10 weeks. The price is $800 for a week, including five sessions (additional sessions are $180).

Pee Wee Tennis
For kids ages 4 to 7, the academy offers hour-long sessions at 5 PM daily at the Dering Harbor Inn from June 19 until August 25.
“We create a fun, safe play environment for young children on the tennis court, using special soft foam balls for tennis games and agility games,” Moussa says.
The cost is $50 per session, with discounts of $450 for 10 sessions or $800 for 20 sessions. Here’s the Pee-Wee form.
Sunset Tennis Clinics
Adults are welcome to join the academy’s Sunset Tennis Clinics, offered daily from May 29 to August 25 at 6 PM at the Dering Harbor Inn. The one-hour clinics, suited to all skill levels, focus on stroke production and fitness and doubles drills.
The base cost is $80 per session per person. Or you can purchase a 10-session package for $700. For $1,800, you can have unlimited clinics during the 2023 season (just text 1-423-747-7164 in advance to let the group know you’re coming). Here’s the Sunset Tennis form.
Semi-private and group lessons
Semi-private and group lessons are available at the academy’s Dering Harbor Inn courts, the Shelter Island Heights clay courts, or your court.
Choose your partners and where you want to play between 7 AM and 6 PM between May 26 through the end of September. Note that prime hours — 8 to 11 AM and 5 to 6 PM — fill up fast, and 48 hours advance notice is required for all reservations.
For two-person sessions, the cost is $120 per person per session (discounted to $1,150 for a package of 10 or $1,110 for 20). For three-person sessions, the cost is $110 per person per session ($1,000/10 or $950/20). Four-person sessions cost $100/person ($900/10 or $800/20). Private lessons
The Moussa Drame Tennis Academy also offers private lessons — at the academy’s courts at the Dering Harbor Inn, in Shelter Island Heights, or at your own court. A single lesson anywhere is $195 for one hour. These packages are available at the academy’s courts: $1,850 for 10 sessions, $3,500 for 20 sessions, or $4,950 for 30 sessions.
