Local police on Wednesday identified Steven William Dickerson, 68, of Shelter Island as the individual who fell from a ladder on Monday. Dickerson died Tuesday of his injuries at University Hospital at Stony Brook-Trauma Center.
Shelter Island Police Detective/Sergeant Jack H. Thilberg said that the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office is continuing the investigation into the circumstances of the death. A determination of the cause of death is pending the outcome of that investigation.
The SIPD on Monday reported that a man was critically injured falling from a ladder while repairing storm-related damage.
SIPD was dispatched to a residence where Dickerson, an electrician, had fallen while making storm-related repairs to a roof area, the police report said. A Shelter Island Emergency Medical Services team transported him to Westmoreland Airstrip for medevac.
